Black History: Dr. Charles Drew

Dr. Charles Richard Drew invented the early "Blood Bank". Drew figured out how to preserve blood for longer than 2 days which was the prior length of time recorded. His efforts have saved many, many lives, and will continue to save lives for years to come.

I picked Dr. Charles Drew because of his story. I did some research and on many sites, the story my grandmother told me is rumored to be a lie but here is what I heard: Dr. Charles Drew, got into a car accident in which his car turned over and he was badly cut and bleeding out. They rushed Drew to the closet hospital they could find. It turned out to be a White's only hospital and he was denied help. Dr. Charles Drew ended up dying on the hospital steps.

Either way, rumor or thruth, Dr. Charles Drew deserves to be remembered and honored, his mind has saved many lives. Thank you!
